SEJONG CITY, KOREA

URBAN DESIGN 2026

Conceived as a civic landscape and a point of origin, the proposal reimagines Sejong’s National Symbolic District as an interconnected system of public space, landscape, and civic architecture. Rather than relying on a single monument, the masterplan establishes an octagonal grid, walkable green axes, and a clearly defined civic heart. Inspired by Korea’s historical symbols of governance and democratic principles, the design prioritizes accessibility, pedestrian movement, and long-term urban clarity. Developed with South Korean expert Daniel Oh, the project transforms national representation into an open, evolving environment where civic identity is experienced through everyday use, participation, and shared collective life.
